ALBA MARINA

ALBA MARINA

ORANGE PET-NAT

Albamarina is the sun rising from the ocean in the magnificent Gulf of Porto Palo, the shimmering light of a summer morning over the deep blue sea. It is grapes that absorb from the sea their saline freshness.

It is Grillo fermented in a very spontaneous way, immensely juicy with a good drinking flow, which is a lot of fun in the glass. It's the perfect aperitivo for hot summer days, and a great companion to fish and seafood.

Drink it cloudy for a rounder mouth feeling, or disgorge before pouring for a cleaner, sharper taste.

WINEMAKING

Alba marina is an orange sparkling wine, made with grapes farmed in Tenuta Belicello according to biodynamic principles.

The grapes are selected and handpicked at the end of August, slightly earlier than full ripening to preserve its natural acidity and the freshest and more intense varietal flavors. We use small crates to avoid bunches crushing.

Brought to the winery right after the harvest, the grapes are immediately destemmed and delivered to clay amphoras. The must ferments spontaneously with all the skins for about 4 days. After soft pressing, the fermentation continues without the skins in a stainless-steel tank for one more week. The wine is bottled during alcoholic fermentation that eventually completes in the bottle, and naturally produces the fizziness that is typical of this ancient method.

In order to allow a smooth end of the fermentation in the bottle, no sulphites nor any other oenological additives are added.
No control is obviously possible after the bottling: each bottle could be different from the others, since each fermentation ends on its own, and each bottle is, potentially, a surprise :)

FOOD PAIRING

Alba marina is not disgorged: it is a cloudy wine with sediments in the bottle, and a metal crown cap rather than a regular cork.

Thanks to natural yeast and bottle fermentation, it displays a wide range of exciting aromas: it has an intense golden color and a cloudy texture due to the lees that collect at the bottom of the bottle. Its delicate foam delivers a fragrant aroma of yellow fruit and Mediterranean herbs, with a pleasant finish of bread crust. The palate is fresh, soft and very savory.

Just like all pét-nats, it pairs very easily with all aperitifs and starters, crustaceans and seafood, cured and smoked fish like tuna bottarga and swordfish salami.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 45 - 49 °F
You can drink it "cloudy", with all its sediments, paying attention not to shake the bottle in order to leave the thicker residue at the bottom.
Or you can disgorge the wine for a cleaner and sharper taste. To facilitate disgorgement, keep the bottle in the fridge for a couple of days, upside down, to collect the sediments in the neck.
